Costs
Trip Includes round trip airfare from New York to France, France to Spain and from Spain back to New York, 7 buffet breakfasts, 5 dinners plus one at the Eiffel Tower, 4 star hotels, travel and luggage insurance. Gratuities are included with the exception of escort.
Travel cost will be $5,099.00 (based on a minimum of 10 students, double occupancy). Final number of approved students will determine final price, odd numbers may cause triple occupancy. Deposit: $1,000.00 at registration by check only to Dimensions in Travel. Final payment can be made to travel agent by credit card after first deposit. Please note that many European hotel rooms are smaller than the standard American hotel room.

Eligibility
This is a three credit course open to all freshman, sophomore, junior and senior level college students. Prospective students will be interviewed by the faculty and must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, have completed all remedial courses PRIOR to application and have completed 15 credits.
Notice:
This course is under the supervision of NCC faculty. Students must comply with all rules and regulations of NCC, particularly the Student Code of Conduct. The rules of the State University of New York are also in effect. Students who do not comply with the Student Code of Conduct will be sent home at their own expense.
Students should take into consideration that the format of this trip can be physically rigorous at times. Also, the remedial and support services available on a campus can not be provided. Any special health issues must be indicated to the Instructor at interview.
Orientation
Prior to departure, there will be an introductory program, which covers an overview of the trip, what to expect, what to bring, preparation materials, study requirements and a question and answer period.
Requirements:
Readings, maps, folders, calculators, supplies, foreign currency, valid passport plus copy must be obtained after second deposit.
Readings
There will be a 100 page handout on business operations and stores, etc., money (currency and exchange), history of art museums and cities, top culinary restaurants, maps, languages.
There will be a video to watch on proper business attire and etiquette.
Monthly educational meetings will be held.
One week prior to departure the will be a pre-departure orientation meeting. This meeting is mandatory. Students must attend the final meeting with a parent/legal guardian.
PROGRAM OF STUDY
RET 127 - Foreign Buying (3 credits)
May 22 - June 1 , 2010
Day 1 - Board overnight transatlantic flight from New York to Paris.
Day 2 - Upon arrival in Paris, France, you will visit the Arc de Triumph, Opera Madeleine, Champs-Elysées and the Notre Dame Cathedral. Enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 3 - A short journey from Paris with your local guide to the lavish 17th-century baroque palace built by Sun King Louis XIV, with its magnificent State Apartments, Hall of Mirrors, and the Royal Chapel. We will also have time to stroll through parts of the elegant 250-acre garden/Dinner.
Day 4 - In the morning, tour to Epernay Moet Chandon then on to the Louis Vuitton museum and showrooms on Champs Elysee/ Baccarat museum/ Goyard leather/luggage with lecture on manufacturing and retail/Dinner.
Day 5 - In the morning, a fashion show at the Galleries las Fayettes then on to the Louvre Museum including the famous "Mona Lisa", the masterpiece of Leonardo Da Vinci and the Musee D'Orsee: French Impressionists. Dinner this evening will be at the Eiffel Tower.
Day 6 - In the morning, lectures with Professors on manufactures/ showrooms and retail then on to the perfume factory/Dinner.
Day 7 - Paris to Barcelona. Upon arrival to Barcelona, historical tour of the city; Columbus Monument, Ramblas and Plaza de Cataluna, Paseo de Gracia, the Church of the Holy Family, a panoramic view of the city and harbor from Monjuich Hill, and a view to the Cathedral of Santa Eulalia. Dinner at local restaurant.
Day 8 - Visit Fashion Buyers Showrooms and Fashion Retail Boutiques/Lectures/Picasso Museum. Dinner at local restaurant.
Day 9 - Today you will be transferred to the Antique Market /open air market. Dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 10 - In the morning, lectures with professors on marketing, showrooms, and retail. Free time in the afternoon.
Day 11 - Leave Barcelona for NY.
